Fertility enhancing laparoscopy and hysteroscopy

Besides sperm and egg, Uterus and fallopian tubes are equally relevant in determining the fertility quality of a couple that wishes to conceive. Laparoscopy and hysteroscopy are surgical procedures done under general anesthesia to evaluate and to treat female factor infertility problems.

Fertility Enhancing Laparoscopy

Laparoscopy, or keyhole surgery, is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that assists in a close examination of abdominal and pelvic organs. It’s not only used as a diagnostic procedure to evaluate the pelvic organs but to also to treat the abnormality detected at the same time. The laparoscope or a narrow telescope like instrument is inserted into the belly button through a very small incision or cut.

The fertility enhancing laparoscopy procedure concentrates on the female pelvic organs such as uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries for diagnostic and surgical purposes.

Hysteroscopy For Fertility Enhancement

Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical and diagnostic procedure for studying the inside of the uterus. A thin and lighted fibre optic telescope is inserted into the vagina and carefully moved into the cervix. A clear image of the uterus is projected on the screen to facilitate observation, diagnosis, and treatment.

Fertility Applications of Hysteroscopy

  • Evaluate and treat infertility problems associated with the uterus.
  • Accurately diagnose the causes of repeated miscarriages.
  • Remove uterine polyps, fibroids, septum, adhesions and other abnormalities to improve chances of pregnancy in the patient.
  • Hysteroscopy with biopsy also increases the odds of clinical pregnancy through IVF, IUI, and other fertility treatments.
